Student Learning Advisor
Ensure a smooth transition to university-level studies
The Student Learning Advisor provides learning support for all Foundation Studies and Diploma Program students. You can book an individual or group appointment with the Student Learning Advisor (on campus or online) for help in the following key areas:
- time management and organisation
- study skills
- research skills and using the library
- paraphrasing, summarising, and quoting
- referencing
- getting started on assessments
- exam preparation
- guidance on improving English language skills
- guidance on academic integrity, collusion, and contract cheating
The Student Learning Advisor can also provide information on other student support services available at La Trobe College Australia and La Trobe University to guide you to the help you need.
Make a booking with the Student Learning Advisor
Simply click ‘Support’ on the Student Portal, then choose ‘Book Student Learning Advisor’ from the drop-down menu.

Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Mentors are high-achieving students and graduates you can talk to and seek advice about study experience, ranging from:
- Balancing study and work
- Preparing for university
- Making effective notes
- Study skills
- Getting started with assignments
- Referencing
