Where you find accommodation will depend on the campus where you will be studying your course. Explore our campuses in Melbourne and Sydney before you make your decision.

Getting settled in Melbourne

Organise your accommodation

Before you arrive in Australia, you will need to arrange your living arrangements. There are a range of accommodation options available to suit your preference and budget.

These include:

  • Homestay: Stay with an Australian family in a single, furnished room for a minimum duration of four weeks. Breakfast and dinner are provided daily, and three meals on Saturdays and Sundays. There is a A$290 placement fee for this service.
  • On-campus residential colleges: Stay in one of the residential colleges on campus, where you can opt for a meal plan. Places in the on-campus residential colleges are limited and can vary depending on the time of year. La Trobe College Australia also offers short-term stays at these colleges for a minimum of 3 nights (short-term stay is also subject to availability and time of year).

  • Off-campus accommodation: Rent an apartment/house or find a sharehouse.

Homestay

Stay with an Australian family

Our Accommodation Officer can also assist you with homestay bookings. These placements are organised and monitored by The Australian Homestay Network (AHN), Australia's largest homestay provider. Their experienced team manages homestay placements across Australia through their website and communication system.

Homestay involves a minimum stay of four weeks. Homestay accommodation includes breakfast and dinner daily, plus lunch on the weekend, and utilities including water, electricity, gas, and internet. It does not include telephone or transport.
